At GTS we see these facts dictating the expansion of coal use. Developing and emerging cultures will rely on the low cost, reliable power that coal provides.
At GTS we believe that this need for coal power must be met and can be met responsibly.
In the United States coal use will continue for the foreseeable future with 30% or more of our power always coming from coal. At GTS we believe that society has a responsibility to see coal as a solution and not a problem. We believe society has a need to work with coal power production because it is not going away.
Humanity Relies on Energy ... In Large Part from Coal
We Accept the Continued Need for Coal and the Need to Improve its Use
Every projection for the future power need of our world includes coal. These projections show coal use increasing. This expectation is driven by the concept that almost 20% of the world population does not have electricity and that an additional 30% of the population uses electricity far less than fully developed countries. Combined with the reality that these groups will necessarily choose the most affordable power source, coal's participation in future power generation is assured.
